Press Release
Wichita -- March 16, 2012

Conservative Attorney and Political Outsider to Run for Seat on District Court Bench

Zoe Newton, a conservative attorney and first-time political candidate, launched her campaign in Sedgwick County for District Court Judge, aiming to shake up the status-quo.

“It's time to bring a fresh perspective to our District Court,” Newton said. “I am not a politician and have never before sought political office, but I think it's time to bring someone with experience working in today’s Kansas economy to the bench.”

“It’s time to bring a fresh perspective to our District Court,” Newton said. “As a business lawyer, I understand how statutes and regulations can affect the growth of businesses. I am not a politician and have never before sought political office, but I think it’s time to bring someone with experience working in today’s Kansas economy to the bench.”

A mother of school-aged children, Newton is particularly interested in how family court impacts the lives of children and families. “In this area where the court goes into our most personal relationships, judges must be sure to follow the law and protect the interests of the family.”

Newton, 45, earned a law degree with a concentration in business law from Cornell Law School. Newton is an experienced corporate and commercial litigator, and has also worked as an Assistant Attorney General. Newton is currently Vice President & General Counsel for the Hartman Companies in Wichita.
