As a mom and a successful professional in Wichita, I am deeply committed to the prosperity and safety of Sedgwick County.
The courts play an important role in supporting our community so that families and businesses can continue to prosper. To fulfill this important role, Sedgwick County needs judges with three essential characteristics: fairness, integrity, and real world experience.
I am challenging a long-time Democratic incumbent who was appointed to serve out his father’s term in 1992 and has been in office ever since. I believe it is time to elect someone to the bench with experience working in today’s Kansas business environment.
FAIRNESS:
With rare exceptions, no-one wants to have to go to court. Going to court can be expensive, stressful, and time consuming. At such a challenging time, no-one should have to worry about whether the process is biased.
All who appear before the court should have a judge who is fair and impartial.
If elected, I will:
- Treat all who appear before the Court fairly and with respect
- Ensure that all before the Court have a level playing field
- Ensure that all before the Court receive due process and the equal protection of the laws
INTEGRITY:
The people of Sedgwick County form their opinions on the integrity of the judicial system by looking at the character of our judges. It is imperative that we elect judges that will not only apply the law fairly, but who will also act in a way that brings honor to the office.
If I am entrusted with the responsibility of being a judge, I will:
- Respect the office to which I have been elected and conduct myself with honor
- Remember that I must remain impartial
- Remember that I have been elected to serve
EXPERIENCE:
I graduated from Cornell Law School in 2000. My first job was as a corporate lawyer at the largest law firm in Delaware. I represented a wide array of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to small startups. I know first-hand how important it is for job creators to have a stable, predictable legal framework so they can grow their businesses and, at the same time, improve our society by creating opportunity.
We need a judge who will level the playing field to ensure equal access to all.
I practiced corporate and commercial law for approximately five years before accepting an assignment as an Assistant Attorney General. As an AAG I witnessed how overwhelming the legal system can be to individuals. Individuals need the same stability and predictability that businesses do. We need to know what is permitted under the law and what is not. We need to know that our outcome does not depend on who we are or how much money we have. We need a judge who will level the playing field to ensure equal access to all.
If I earn your vote, I will:
- Apply the laws in a consistent manner
- Adhere to the principles of stability, predictability, and the rule of law
- Make all decisions based on the facts presented and the applicable law
